Todays challenge: Decide on 1 ‘imperfect’ action to take daily for the next 30 days

My Imperfect Action for the Month

The action I’m going to take is to go for a walk after lunch every day outside – even if its just a couple of minutes – seriously. I know that if I want to make a “walk after lunch” habit I have to make it small enough that it is impossible to say no to. Even if I’m not feeling well. Even if I feel like i don’t have time. Because, mostly once I get outside and walk, I’ll start to feel better and I’ll realise that I can prioritise time in my day for exercise that actually gives me more energy for the rest of my day.

Why I Chose this Action

I chose “walk after lunch” as my action because it is a keystone habit. That is, a habit that makes other good habits easier. For more about Keystone habits check out my FREE ebook:

Walking after lunch is a keystone habit for me because when I do that, I am more productive in the afternoon. This means that I am less prone to procrastination or feeling overwhelmed, and therefore less likely to reach out for quick fixes or distractions like sugar or social media.

Benefits After A Month

After a month of walking after lunch, I will be fitter than I have been since knee surgery in feb 2015. I’ll be able to do longer walks in the weekends which I really enjoy and miss heaps. I’ll also have had a whole month of productive afternoons – woo hoo. Even better, with more productive afternoons (in my day job), I can dedicate more time to my blog and realising my dreams of helping more people getting happy and healthy through habit change!
